成人抖阴 invites business, policy-makers and community members to learn about its work

By Press Office

Wellbeing through music, caring for children with cerebral palsy, pre-habilitation in healthcare, social enterprise initiatives and supporting students with autism are just some of the topics that will be showcased at 成人抖阴鈥檚 annual open event this April.

The evening event, 鈥楲ocal Impact and Global Reach鈥, will provide visitors with a unique insight into the diverse work taking place across the University.

Designed for representatives from business, industry, healthcare and voluntary organisations, along with local community members and 成人抖阴 graduates, the event will include a fascinating range of exhibition stalls, a short talk by the Principal and Chair of Court, optional tours, and refreshments. Visitors will have the chance to meet researchers and academic staff at an informal fair, where they can learn about new research, community engagement initiatives, collaborations, creative initiatives and innovation-led projects from across the University鈥檚 School of Health Sciences and the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Management.

Each year, this event allows us to shine a light on the extraordinary work happening across 成人抖阴 - work that is shaped by our values, rooted in community, and aimed at improving lives and building the economy. The range of projects on display this year demonstrates not only our academic strength, but also our commitment to impact and partnership.
Pamela Woodburn, Chair of the University Court

She continued: 鈥淲hether it鈥檚 working collaboratively with partners to develop the Edinburgh Innovation Hub, creating better futures for young people, pushing the boundaries of innovation in healthcare, or growing social enterprises and  supporting community wealth building more generally, our staff and students are contributing in meaningful and impactful ways. The open event provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to learn more about these initiatives, to connect with the people driving them forward, and to network.鈥

As part of the evening, guests will also be invited to take an optional tour of 成人抖阴鈥檚 new public artwork installation by local artist Martha Ellis, commissioned to mark the 150th anniversary of 成人抖阴.
